Mother's Day 2014

Mother's Day did not go as planned around here.  Earlier in the week, Eric had been HORRIBLY sick with the flu.  A couple days had passed though, so I thought I was in the clear.  Not true.

Saturday morning we went to a Stake production of "Built on the Rock."  It's a really big deal, with many of the local youth participating.  The kids loved the play, and seeing the teenagers in their costumes.  I enjoyed it, but started to feel a little yucky during it.  I was still kidding myself that it was just the tight room and the heat at that point.

Right from the play, Maggie and I headed to a birthday party for a friend in her class.  I still wasn't feeling great, but again, I thought it was the crowd noise, etc.  Thankfully, Maggie got her face painted before lunch, because once I ate a slice of pizza it was all over...

I got us out of there as graciously as I could, and then it was all I could do to drive us home and crawl into my bed.

So, please forgive the rest of the pictures because they are all from the same angle in my room.  I didn't move for the rest of the day.

For Mother's Day, Amos dressed himself for church as his present to me.  Not too shabby.  It was like 80 degrees out though:

The kids made me breakfast in bed.  I still wasn't up for eating, but it was so depressing missing the tradition.  I did my best with the toast, bacon, and apple.

This ginger ale, though, this was a true gift:

While I was bed bound, the girls put on a fashion show for me as entertainment.  And entertained I was.

"Regular" pose:

Maggie said, let's pose "stylish" and this is what we got:

"No, Audrey.  Like this!"

"AUDREY!"

"There."

"Ok, now be silly."

The Sunday before Mother's Day I taught the Relief Society lesson.  I used this quote, and it's been on my mind ever since.  It may have something to do with the fact that I just had to explain what a "nip slip" is to Amos after he heard the expression used on the radio.  Thank goodness it was radio.
