This week we started swim lessons. Out of fear that the anticipation might kill us all, I didn't tell the kids where they were going, until it was time to get ready to go...
"I have a surprise..."
"We're going to swim lessons today!"
"Yay! Yay! Yay!"
And minutes later, ready to go:
I didn't take my camera to the pool this week. I'll make it a goal for next week.
The first day they test all the kids to see what level they should be in, Mags was a level 1, and Amos a 2. On the second day, I noticed Amos talking to the teacher very seriously, then Maggie got pulled out of her group, and Amos and Maggie were alone with a different teacher. Afterwards I asked Amos what happened and he said,
"I didn't want to float."
Talking to the instructors a little later I determined that Amos was demoted back to level 1, and by chance, it was Maggie who was put with him. She was chosen because she was having the hardest time paying attention in her class. Growing up I HATED the kids who got extra/special attention because they weren't cooperating. Now, "those kids" are all mine. Way to go Horne kids =)
Amos actually seemed to do great the rest of the week, but Maggie is having a terrible time paying attention. She's not a great listener. Hopefully, next week goes better for her.
