Yesterday Amos' preschool took a field trip to the Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum on BYU's campus. I'd heard about the museum before (it always comes up as a free place to take kids), but I'd heard it was kind of lame. Lame, it was not!
Amos and Maggie LOVED it. They ran all over the place checking out all of the animals.
The museum also offers live animal shows, and they loved those too. At one point, the demonstrator pulled out a dead chick (that was preserved somehow, I have no idea), and showed it to the kids. Then, he tossed it down on the front of the stage and said,
"If you'd like to, you can come have a closer look at the end."
Maggie spent the next ten minutes saying,
"I want to see it closer!"
Sure enough, the minute the man finished Mag's ran up and snatched up that bird! Yikes. Mag's was super brave wanting to touch all of the snakes, etc. Amos was a little nervous at first, but he eventually touched the snakes too. Even Audrey had to touch the snake. She is not one to be left out these days.
So, if you're in the area, the Bean Museum is not lame.
