Down on the Farm
Saturday we took the kids to Hee Haw Farms. While Eric and I were dating, I did a story on "Hee Haw Farms" and their 1200 lb pig that had just had babies (you know, back when I was a serious journalist). So, I guess that's how we knew about Hee Haw. Who knew all those years ago that doing that story with Eric pretending to be my cameraman would eventually lead us to being there with our three kids? I distinctly remember trying to get the little kid animal train to run perfectly through the background of my stand up. This time, it was trying to get a perfect shot of my own kids in the train.
Aside from the train, the kids had a ball. Amos must have gone on the big slide about 600 times. He could do it totally independently, so it was fantastic to watch him go up and down, around and around, again and again. He'd barely hit the bottom and he'd be up, running to the top again.
Amos wasn't the only one who like the slide:
The corn box was also a hit. The kids played forever in the corn, burying themselves, making snow angels, and in Audrey's case, having a snack. I have to say I loved it, because it is SO much cleaner than sand. We need to get one of those. In fact, they need to turn all beaches into one of those.
We went to Hee Haw to get pumpkins, but we couldn't pull the kids away from the other activities long enough to make it to the pumpkin patch. I guess that's a success, and now we still get to go to the pumpkin patch another day.
