Cowgirl Social

Last night I had the privilege/opportunity (seriously, I loved it) to head up a committee to put on our Relief Society Visiting Teaching Social.  The RS Presidency chose a cowboy/western theme.  I have to admit, it's a theme I would NEVER choose myself, but I really got into it.  Springville might be rubbing off on me.

The invitation was one of my favorite parts:

The cowboy and cowgirl are a landmark leaning up against one of the houses in our ward, so it was fun to make them a little more famous.

Decorations were a lot easier to round up than I expected.  We collected cowboy/western stuff from around our houses and the neighborhood.

The committee ok'd my idea to make it pink cowgirl, so we hit up Oriental Trading company to fill in a few gaps.

The centerpieces were just cardboard boxes wrapped in twine and topped with red velvet cupcakes. Which brings us to the food...

We provided the cupcakes, sloppy joes, and chips.  We had sign-ups for potato salad, macaroni salad, and relish trays.  The highlight was homemade root beer.  YUM!

I have to say it was SO simple and easy.  Everyone had a great time, and we got to embrace our inner cowgirls.

It's amazing - and those decorations are perfect. While it wouldn't be my theme either - I thought, oh, I'd like to have that in my house... great job!

I am always amazed at what a great job you do at coming up with cute decorations and totally transforming the cultural hall. You did such a great job - just like you did at Christmas. So is this the new calling? On a RS committee or something?
