Tonight my sister, Anna, and I took the kids to the movies (pronounced: moon-mies).  On the way there we were talking about how the only other time I've been to the Spanish 8 theaters was when Maggie was in the NICU.  It's funny how we never really know how things are going to turn out, we have to just keep going.

P.S. She insisted on wearing "my princess" to the movies.  Yeah, that dress.  She wore it to bed tonight too.

President's Day 2011

Happy President's Day!  I hope you all had a good one, but if not, its ok.  Ours wasn't the best, but it ended with a dance party.  Any day that ends in a dance party is awesome in my book.

In case you're in need of some President's Day cheer:

Sorry for the lack of pants on Maggie.  Quite honestly, we're lucky she had that much on.

Look Mom!

There is a new phrase that's heard quite often in our house.  It varies from time to time, but the basic idea:

"Look Mom, Baby Audrey likes it!!"

Amos plays with Baby Audrey all the time, and he's generally right, she likes it.  She smiles and laughs for him more than anyone else.

This time was no exception:

This photo is the most true to life, Baby Audrey's arms are blurry from being "waved" for her:

Today Amos woke up from his Sunday nap before Eric and I woke up from ours...he quietly went and got baby Audrey out of her swing and was playing with her.  She was smiling as big as can be when I found them.  A little while later she started to fuss and he quickly stuck her binky in her mouth, kissed her on the cheek and said, "there you go baby."  Amos is such a good big brother.

The Beginning of the Beginning

All those infatuated with Amos, namely Grandparents, you might want to sit down for this.

Amos started preschool today!

Amos on his first day of school.
About a month ago, we took Amos to check out a preschool for next fall.  It has been all he could talk about ever since.  I was going to have a really hard time putting him off all spring and summer, so, when the preschool called to say they had an opening now, we said "YAHOO!"

Eric came home from work for lunch today to see Amos off.  We gave him his new backpack, and he was so thrilled.  It's a good thing I bought him a backpack the day we first checked out the school (maybe I was going to have a hard time putting myself off all spring and summer too).

Maggie wasn't too sad about not getting to go to school, but she really wanted a backpack too.  She managed to pull one out of the closet and insisted on wearing it around just like Amos.

I have just a few minutes left before I need to go pick up Amos...I can't wait to see what he has to say about today!

I Hate Pushing Swings

My kids love swinging.

How We Roll, part 2

The kids and I went to the park in our neighborhood for the first time since Audrey has been born today.  We've been to the park at the library lots of times, but never the "purple park."  The major difference between the park at the library and the park in our neighborhood, is that we drive to the library.  We take the stroller to the "purple park."

I've looked around for a triple stroller (absolutely crazy, I know) and everything I've found is $$$.  So, we rock the double.

And, I do mean rock it.

Happy Valentine's Day

True love.

Freedom Week Revisited

I finally got around to cleaning and organizing my little space in the kitchen yesterday. You know the spot, the dumping ground for EVERYTHING.  Anyway, while I was doing that I came across my Mom's journal from when she and Grampy watched the kids last summer (i.e. Freedom Week).  I was saving them so I could record them here, so why not today, 8 months later?

"Amos and Maggie's Bogus Adventure"

Sunday, June 13, 2010

When the weather is bad, we say try something else! So on Sunday we headed to Boise, ID with Grammy Cindy Shaver and Papa Rodger Shaver.  They will be known as Grammy and Papa from now on.

Grammy went to Salt Lake early in the morning (momma took her and then came back). Papa, Amos, and Maggie left Springville about 10:45 a.m. to pick up Grammy in Salt Lake.  She was ready when they arrived so all were on the road by 11:45 headed to Boise.

The car ride went very well.  We stopped for gas and Grammy got Amos and Maggie french fries and "sauce."

We got to Grammy's house about 5:00 p.m.  It sure felt good to get out of the car.  Amos and Maggie got reaquainted with Squirt and Mahanna.  Maggie was scared of both of them for a few hours.

Liz called and invited us over for dinner, so we got to play with Carrie, Allison, Morgan, and Levi.  The bonus room had lots of toys-even a choo choo train.

Too soon it was time to go back to Grammy's, get jammies on, brush teeth, pray, and go to bed.  Boy, were we tired!

Woke up to a beautiful day. Great day to ride bikes, jump on the trampoline and swim.

The Iversons came over in the afternoon and we played for hours.  It was hot so we put on our floaties and did a lot of swimming.  We had a picnic, more swimming, and finally bed.  Grammy looked really tired.  She went to bed at 9:30 p.m.

Tuesday, June 15, 2010

After a busy Monday we needed to regroup.  Papa stayed home in the morning so Grammy could go to the grocery store and get nummies.  Papa thought it would be fun to go to the park but the trip was cute short when Papa's patience ran out.

Grammy came home with nummies and Amos and Maggie took a nap.  All we excited for 1/2 price Happy Meals and we met Morgan and Levi at McDonalds.  Maggie amazed everyone by eating all the leftovers.

No swimming today-too cold, but did some good jumping on the tramp.  Maggie gets both feet off the ground.

Wednesday, June 16, 2010

Cold and windy-no swimming today.  Amos and Maggie mostly played inside.  Amos had a good trip with Papa to Home Depot and to pick up the lawnmower.  Maggie pretty much sat in her high chair and ate the whole time.  Grammy thought it was much easier with just one child.  She even got some laundry done.

Amos and Maggie loved their new toys-Buzz Lightyear and Jessie.  Buzz even talks.

In the afternoon the kids went to Iversons for a couple hours of playtime.  Amos loves to play with Morgan.  Maggie loves to eat.  We have changed 3 poopie diapers each today.

Dinner at the Iversons, more play in the backyard and then home to Grammy's.

Neither Amos or Maggie put up a fuss about going to bed.  Neither did Grammy and Papa.

Tomorrow is supposed to be warmer.  Maybe more outside time but with all the toys in Meg's living room, inside time is pretty good.

Amos' report of playtime: "Amos make mess, Amos clean up.  Good job Amos."

Thursday, June 17, 2010

This was a busy day!  Amos slept in 'til 8:30 and Maggie until 9:00.  Wow-that is Grammy time.  After a breakfast of grapes and lucky charms we all headed out for a morning shopping.  Grammy and Maggie shopped at walmart, while Amos and Grampy shopped at the farm store.

Everyone was great so they earned some time at the park.  It was great to have one on one and they ran around like crazy-up and down.  Amos was very insatisified with the swing pushing.  We never could figure out what he wanted.  He would take one hand off the chain and point to the sky, but when we pushed harder he would get mad.  Who knows?

After lunch they both slept from 12:30-3:00.  Great for Grammy and Grampy to get some yard work done.

The Iversons were here when they got up so had some good time in the hot tub and on the tramp.

Amos loved the steak we had for dinner-just like his Dad.  8:00 and bedtime!

And, that's where it ends.  I don't know if I lost a couple pages, or if Grammy quit recording, but that's all I have.   I got there to pick them on Sunday, so I don't know what happened on Friday and Saturday?  I guess it'll be another great mystery, like what Amos wanted when he was on the swing?

An Outing

Once again, winter has forced us into the arms of the Dinosaur Museum at Thanksgiving Point.  I could stay inside all day everyday and be totally happy, but Eric and the kids were starting to go nuts.  We haven't been to the museum since we went for the first time last year, so it was fun to see how different of an experience it was for Amos and Maggie this time.

The kids were much more able when it came to interacting with the erosion table, sand pit, etc.

I didn't realize a kind stranger was going to offer to take our picture, so Audrey was left out in her stroller a few feet away:

One of these days she'll quit letting us ignore her.

The kids still weren't really into the "museum" part, but I can't say I blame them.  Those dioramas are creepy.  And, the fish don't even move.

Plus, there's some weird guy crawling around in there.

Thanks to Thanksgiving Point for another fun visit, see you again next winter!

Amos and Maggie are way into puzzles these days.  Amos channels Snoop Dogg and calls them "pizzles" (thankfully, he has yet to say "fo' shizzle").  Maggie is slightly better at the puzzles, and sometimes when I am too busy to help Amos, he'll ask Maggie to help him.

It's extra adorable to watch them work on something together.  Sometimes I'm "busy" on purpose.

Prayer Time

Today Amos said his first prayer in Primary!  It was awesome.  I was so worried that he would panic and not want to do it, but he did great.  When the Primary President was announcing the program, and she said Amos' name, he perked right up and got really smiley.

When it was time to pray he climbed up to the podium, folded his arms and I *think* he closed his eyes.  I whispered the words into his ear, and then he shouted them into the microphone for all to hear =)  When he got done everyone giggled (like, in a "that's so cute" way).  He was really proud of himself, and it was awesome to see.

Staying safe

I make Amos and Maggie hold each other's hands when we walk in parking lots. I tell them to watch for cars and to keep each other safe.

Today in the car Amos told me he was keeping Maggie safe.

Quote of the day

Amos: "You can see my poopie."

Maggie: "WAHOO!"
