We are so blessed in so many ways, and now baby Audrey is officially blessed.  We were able to bless her at church while my family was visiting, and it was a very simple, good day.

l-r Laura Horne, Audrey Horne, Eric Horne, Maggie Horne, Meg Shaver, Cindy Shaver, Amos Horne, Rodger Shaver, Morgan Iverson, and Anna Shaver.

Truthfully, I don't like baby blessing day.  As the mother, I always feel responsible for all of the arrangements, etc. and I can barely be responsible for myself.  I really admire the people who get it together enough to have amazing brunches, parties, etc.  Not that I did a lot for Amos or Maggie's blessing, but this time around we kept it super small.  Eric and I each invited one friend, which translated to two friends each, since we totally approved of each other's picks:

Rob Johnson and Brett Barrett have been there through it all with us.  Rob and Eric were roommates when we were dating.  Rob was a witness at our wedding, and has been there for every event since.  Brett and I worked together while Eric and I were dating, and he's been there through it all with us too.

We realized as we were dressing Audrey, that the blessing dress is close to 100 years old (it was first used in 1916 for my Grandmother Margaret's brother).  A number of "Shavers" have been blessed in it since, including my Dad and his brothers, me and my sisters, the Iverson cousins, and Maggie.  Pretty awesome.  We're currently accepting commitments for a baby to wear it in 2016...

Really is it any wonder I didn't think I could coordinate a hoopla?:

Thanks to everyone who helped me make it through the day and to Eric for giving a beautiful blessing.  It was a really special day.

Sometimes it's nice to just have something low key. I'm glad it was a nice day for you guys. Also, very cool about the blessing dress. And I like that men have worn it too. :)
