Forever S.T.R.O.N.G.

This year was stake girls' camp, and the theme they chose was Forever S.T.R.O.N.G. (Stand Together Righteously Our Noble Generation).  It fit in perfectly with the 2010 mutual theme: "Be strong and of a good courage" (Joshua 1:9).

The girls had a great week and I think the themes of courage, strength, and bravery were exactly what we all needed to hear.  I am constantly amazed at the things the girls teach me, they really act more like adults sometimes.

We had 11 girls and 4 leaders, which made us the smallest group there by far, but believe me it is quality, not quantity.  We didn't have one ounce of drama (which is a girls' camp miracle).  The girls left behind their families, friends, cellphones, facebook, twitter, etc. and just enjoyed a week at beautiful Heber Valley Camp.

I'd heard A LOT about Heber Valley Campground before camp, and I now know what all the excitement was about.  It is truly an impressive place.  Pres. and Sis. Hinckley came up with the idea for Heber Valley Campground specifically to accommodate the girls camp program.  No detail was overlooked and the facilities are immaculate.  Senior missionaries (retired couples who volunteer) run the campground now, and they seem to be having the time of their lives.  It is my dream to get to serve lots of missions with Eric someday, and I am thinking Heber Valley Camp would be a pretty awesome place for one of them.  Eric would fit right in at girls' camp ;)

YW Leaders: Alisha Chapman, Alecia Cardon, Jeani Tolboe, & Laura Horne

I had a great week, and if anything, I learned that there really is peace to be found when you leave the world behind.

**Aunt Anna is really paying her dues this year.  I owe her big for running Camp Aunt Anna with Amos and Maggie so I could be at camp worry free.  Sidenote: when we entered Heber Valley Camp they asked us if we had any firearms or children under 12.  Apparently both are dangerous =)

YEAH for girls camp. I am sorry I didn't get to say goodbye to you that Monday. It got a little too dramatic for me with the girls. I really do miss our neighborhood though!
