So, I am supposed to be out in the garage pulling stuff out for the neighborhood yard sale on Saturday, but I got totally distracted by a box of old photos. I found a bunch of my high school dance pictures, and I thought I'd share. I remember fighting my Mom so hard about having to wear a modest dress, but boy am I glad I did now. Its really hard outside of Utah to find "dance" dresses with sleeves, etc. so I ended up with some interesting choices, but I don't regret any of them. I am not sure where the pictures are from Florida, so I am missing my Freshman year.
Sophomore Prom. My first dance with a date! I turned 16 just in time to be allowed to date for the Prom, and I got invited by a Junior, so it worked out great. This dress seems like a really odd choice to me now, but I definitely loved it at the time, and I remember begging my Mom to get it for me:
Junior Homecoming. My Mom made that skirt for me, I really wish I had a better picture of it, because it was AWESOME. I really need to learn how to sew:
Junior Winter Formal. Amber and Jamie are probably some of the nicest girls I've ever known, and I remember that they took such good care of me before this dance (and during the transition to a new high school in general). That is definitely one of my all time favorite dresses too:
Junior Prom. Oh, sweet Rex. What a good guy:
Senior Homecoming. Uh, I might regret the cowboy hat a little. I do remember that it didn't even make it into the dance though, so we're good:
Senior Winter Formal. That was my best friend's (see next picture) boyfriend, Patrick. The winter formal was girl ask guy, and she was going out of town, and I didn't really like anyone at the time, so it worked out perfect. Going to a dance with a friend was really fun:
Senior Prom. My Mom will probably never live this one down, and she shouldn't either: I was voted a Prom Princess and I was sooo excited. I came home and showed my Mom the crown all giggly and hyper and she looked at me really disapprovingly. I was crushed. I couldn't figure out why she wasn't as happy as I was. I don't remember exactly how it came out, but eventually I figured out that she thought I had bought myself the crown (as opposed to being given it):
And then I graduated:
And, for whatever reason this was in with the dance pictures-My FAVORITE! My war wounds from an all out battle with my sister Anna. We got into the most ridiculous fight about her refusing to fold her laundry, and it ended up totally physical. I don't think we've ever hit each other otherwise, but it was BAD. She totally kicked my butt, and I pulled her hair =( The fight only ended when she pushed me down onto one of my mom's lawn ornaments (a dog) and I got a dead leg and couldn't get up. I broke the dog's tail off, and I ended up with this ridiculous bruise, that I still have traces of today. And yes, the fight started inside the house and somehow we ended up out in the yard???
So what have I learned from all this? I am REALLY excited to have Maggie to share all this with someday.
