Well, we did it. We transitioned Amos' crib into a toddler bed. It was a lot harder for me than I thought it would be. My little baby looks so big in a "bed." He LOVES it though. He helped Eric and I take off the crib side and put on the crib rails, and we could barely keep him off the bed. He thinks being able to get into his bed by himself is the coolest thing ever.
Last night was his first night in the bed. We went out to dinner with some friends and we didn't get home until 2 hours past his bedtime, so I am not sure he'll always be so willing to go to bed. When we got home he ran into his room and laid down on his changing pad so I could change his diaper and his clothes. He could barely wait for me to zip up his jammies. He ran and grabbed his blankie and hopped right into bed. Eric and I gave him his bears and tucked him in, and said good night. We didn't hear another peep out of him, and when we checked an hour later, he was asleep in his bed.
This morning I woke up to the sounds of him playing happily in his room, how cool! I don't know how long he'd been up for, but he'd had time to empty all his drawers and his bookshelf (not that that takes him long).
Nap time this morning went well too, he did get out of bed to put his shoes on? but, he took a nap, so I can't complain. I did hear him knocking on his bedroom window at one point, probably trying to get the attention of some innocent passerby.
Waking up after his nap, notice he has his shoe on and some extra things in his bed:
He seems to understand he's supposed to stay in his bed a lot more than I thought he would, so that's a good start. I'm still sad he's not a baby anymore.
