Floral Design Class

This week I took a Floral Design class through the Springville Community School (adult education). I have been looking for classes like this to take for a while, and this is the first time one has worked with mine and Eric's schedules (and some help from the Browns!).

The first night we went over the basics, like how to cut a stem (oddly difficult for me). We practiced on some gorgeous long stemmed roses and st. john's wort.

The next night we actually made an arrangement. It was hard to know where to place stuff so it would look good. We used: leather fern, sunflowers, cattails, mums, st. john's wort, and fall leaves.

I got a little anxiety over it, but it was really fun and I am glad I made the extra effort to try something out of my comfort zone. Thanks to Eric for supporting me, even though it seemed like a small thing to him, it was a big thing to me!

St. John's Wort. That sounds kind of mystical. Are you sure this wasn't Herbology class with Prof. Sprout?
